Get a defibrillator for your community
Having a defibrillator nearby can save lives. Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are easy to use and give clear voice and screen instructions. Anyone can use one in an emergency — no medical training is needed.
What you can do
- you can buy a defibrillator for your community. There are many types available, and they all work in a similar way
- The Scottish Ambulance Service works with a wide range of AEDs but doesn’t recommend specific brands
- once you have a defibrillator, it’s important to register it on The Circuit so emergency services know where it is

Become a defibrillator guardian
A defibrillator guardian is someone who looks after a defibrillator — making sure it’s registered, easy to access and in good working order.
