Defibrillators in the community
Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is a serious health emergency. While health services lead the response we also play a vital role in supporting communities by providing information, signposting to trusted resources and helping raise awareness of life-saving defibrillators.
What we do
- promote tools like DefibFinder and Padmap to help you locate and place defibrillators where they’re most needed
- help connect you with funding sources for purchasing defibrillators like SALFS
- share guidance on how to register your defibrillator with the national network The Circuit
- promote local training opportunities and community initiatives like the DH9 Foundation
What we don’t do
- we don’t manage or maintain defibrillators directly
- we don’t provide emergency medical advice or services
- we don’t recommend specific defibrillator models
Why it matters
Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by up to 10%. By helping communities register, locate and learn to use defibrillators we can all play a part in saving lives.
