Defibrillators in the community

Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is a serious health emergency. While health services lead the response we also play a vital role in supporting communities by providing information, signposting to trusted resources and helping raise awareness of life-saving defibrillators.

What we do

• promote tools like DefibFinder and Padmap to help you locate and place defibrillators where they’re most needed
• help connect you with funding sources for purchasing defibrillators like SALFS
• share guidance on how to register your defibrillator with the national network The Circuit
• promote local training opportunities and community initiatives like the DH9 Foundation

What we don’t do

• we don’t manage or maintain defibrillators directly
• we don’t provide emergency medical advice or services
• we don’t recommend specific defibrillator models

Why it matters

Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by up to 10%. By helping communities register, locate and learn to use defibrillators we can all play a part in saving lives.
