Supplementary bursaries for students
These bursaries are for young people who have mostly gone to school in Dumfriesshire and want to go to college or university.
Who can apply
- people who live in Dumfriesshire
- people who have gone to school in Dumfriesshire for at least 5 years
- people who are enrolled in college or university
- people who have received a bursary from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) for the 2026/27 school year
Bursary amounts
- if you get a £2000 SAAS bursary, you can get up to £1000 from the Trust
- if you get a £1125 SAAS bursary, you can get up to £562 from the Trust
- if you get a £1000 SAAS bursary, you can get up to £500 from the Trust
- if you get a £500 SAAS bursary, you can get up to £250 from the Trust
Applications are reviewed in September. If you are successful, the money will be sent to your bank account.
Edinburgh Dumfriesshire Scholarship
These bursaries are for secondary school students who have mostly gone to school in Dumfriesshire and want to go to the University of Edinburgh or another college or university.
Who can apply
- people who live in Dumfriesshire
- people who have gone to school in Dumfriesshire for at least 5 years
- people who want to go to the University of Edinburgh or another college or university
Award criteria
- awards are based on your S5 exam results and a report from your Headteacher
- the award is £500 per year for up to four years
- only eight awards are given at a time
- preference is given to students going to the University of Edinburgh
Applications are reviewed in September. If you are successful, the money will be sent to your bank account.
