Following a decision by councillors at Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Economy and Infrastructure committee on 2 September, the council will now take steps to explore the potential introduction of a Visitor Levy scheme, aimed at enhancing the region’s tourism infrastructure and supporting sustainable growth in the visitor economy.
The Scottish Government has awarded Dumfries and Galloway Council £1.57 million funding to transform Lochvale House in Georgetown into a vibrant, sustainable community hub and employment centre, supporting over 5,000 local residents and tackling poverty and inequality in some of Dumfries’ most deprived areas.
Dumfries and Galloway Council is calling on residents, communities, businesses, and partners to have their say on the future of litter prevention across the region, as part of a wide-ranging consultation launching on 28 April.
