The free event is aimed at businesses and social enterprises that want to better understand public sector contract opportunities, meet buyers and exhibitors and get practical advice on how the process works.

Meet the Buyer will bring together a wide range of organisations in one place, giving businesses the chance to hear more about opportunities that may be coming up, ask questions directly and make useful contacts.

Exhibitors are set to include Dumfries and Galloway Council, NHS Dumfries and Galloway, Business Gateway, the Federation of Small Businesses, South of Scotland Enterprise, Scotland Excel, Scottish Procurement Alliance, the Supplier Development Programme, hub South West, Wheatley Group, Ashleigh, Morgan Sindall, McTaggart Construction and McLaughlin & Harvey, alongside other partners and contractors.

Councillor John Campbell, Chair of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Enabling and Customer Services Committee, said:

“Meet the Buyer is a practical opportunity for businesses to hear more about public sector contract opportunities, meet the people involved and gain a clearer understanding of how the process works.

“We want local businesses to feel that these opportunities are visible, accessible and worth exploring, whether they are completely new to bidding for work or already have experience of supplying goods, works or services.”

Vice-Chair Councillor Ben Dashper said:

“This event is about making connections and helping businesses put themselves in a stronger position when opportunities go live.

“It is also part of the wider work to support the local economy by making it easier for firms across Dumfries and Galloway to engage with public sector opportunities and build useful relationships.”

Alongside the exhibitor area, the event will also feature a programme of short presentations on topics including how to access contract opportunities, forthcoming opportunities, collaborative commissioning in social care, frameworks and dynamic purchasing systems and business support across the South of Scotland.

Meet the Buyer is being promoted by Dumfries and Galloway Council, with support from the Supplier Development Programme.
