Area committee funding – Stewartry

Funding schemes to help the Stewartry Area Committee meet their priorities.

At its meeting on 20 May 2026, Stewartry Area Committee agreed its funding priorities and approved the launch of the following grant schemes to support local communities across Stewartry.

Tackling Poverty and Inequalities Fund

This fund is now open to applications

This fund is here to help organisations that support people in our communities who need it most.

  • groups can apply for at least £1,000 and up to £7,500 to help run their projects
  • the money is for activities that will happen within 12 months after the decision is made
  • decisions about who gets the funding will be made in September 2026

The funding priorities are for projects that support, in particular:

  • digital connectivity
  • fuel poverty 
  • access to employment
  • food insecurity and clothing

Other priorities include:

  • support for securing and sustaining tenancies
  • access to transport
  • financial management
  • support for young people in relation to transport and mental, physical and sexual health

How to apply

Important dates

  • deadline to apply: 21 July 2026 at midday
  • decisions made by: September 2026

We cannot pay for anything that has already been bought or started before we make a decision.

Discretionary Grant Funding

The Stewartry Area Committee has some funding available to help support local activities and projects. Here’s how it can be used:

Sports

The committee works with the Stewartry Sports Council to support individuals and clubs with training, coaching and sports activities. If you want to apply, go directly to their website for details.

Key facilities

This fund is now open to applications

Funding is available to help community owned/managed buildings and events that bring people together and support wellbeing. You can apply for up to £4000 (school buildings and transport are not included in this funding).

Galas and community events

Applications are still open, apply now to avoid disappointment

This supports local events like galas, music, community competitions and gatherings (in person or online). You can apply for up to £500.

Youth

This fund is now open to applications

Funding is available for organisations and clubs that run activities for young people aged 12 to 25. Each ward in the Stewartry can give out up to £2000. 

If you have a project that supports young people and aligns with the Tackling Poverty and Inequalities Fund, you are encouraged to apply.

How it works

Funding decisions are made by the lead officer, together with local ward members. Grants are given out on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s best to apply early.

How to apply

To apply for funding for key facilities, galas and community events or youth activities please submit an expression of interest below and return it to the email on the form.
