Food businesses that manufacture products of animal origin such as meat products, dairy products or eggs may need approval if they use:

- mechanically separated meat

- live bivalve molluscs (shellfish)
- fishery products
- dairy products
- eggs and egg products (not primary production)
- frog legs
- snails
- rendered animal fats and greaves
- treated stomachs, bladders and intestines
