New Community Bus Services for Annandale Area

Regional transport partnership SWestrans has confirmed that from 5 January 2026, Annandale Community Transport Services (ACTS) will continue operation of the 80 Annan town service, to maintain local connectivity following the withdrawal of the service currently operated by Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire.

Dumfries and Galloway Council is delighted to announce the opening of the new inclusive play park in Garrie's Park in Gatehouse of Fleet – the fourth inclusive play park project launched this year – supported by the Scottish Government Play Park Renewal Fund. This milestone marks another step forward in creating accessible, welcoming spaces for children and families across our region.

Dumfries and Galloway Council Introduces Temporary 20mph Speed Limit for Locharbriggs and Heathhall

Dumfries and Galloway Council has introduce a temporary 20mph speed limit in Locharbriggs and Heathhall from today, 19 December 2025, supporting national efforts to improve road safety and encourage active travel. The scheme, approved by the council's Communities Committee in 2021 and shaped by public feedback, will contribute to the development of a Scotland-wide 20mph strategy.
