Young people from every corner of Dumfries and Galloway have been recognised for their hard work, dedication and personal development at a series of Celebration of Achievement events delivered by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Youth Work Service throughout February.

Dumfries and Galloway Council yesterday set out, in an open and straightforward way, the pressures facing Social Work Services, and the practical steps being taken to make sure children, young people, adults and families continue to get the support they need.

The Dumfries and Galloway Community Planning Partnership (CPP) has welcomed the publication of a joint inspection report into services for children and young people subject to compulsory supervision orders and living at home with their parents.

Dumfries and Galloway Council is preparing for forthcoming national legislative changes to the way burial rights are granted and renewed in Scotland, following the implementation of Sections 14 and 16 of the Burial and Cremation (Scotland) Act 2016. These provisions come into force on 1 March 2026 and introduce a new framework affecting the duration and renewal of burial rights across the country.

When someone goes missing, time matters, not only for locating the person but for understanding what led them to leave in the first place. In Dumfries and Galloway, the council works closely with Police Scotland, NHS services and other partners across the Public Protection Partnership to ensure the right eyes, ears and expertise come together quickly when a vulnerable person is unaccounted for.
