Dumfries and Galloway is set to become a national leader in landscape‑scale nature recovery as two major regional projects – SCAMP Landscape Connections and the Galloway Fisheries Trust’s Flowing Forward – Restoring Galloway’s Rivers Project – have been jointly selected by the Scottish Government as one of only nine exemplar projects across Scotland.

A wave of new green jobs has just been announced as part of the Solway Coast and Marine Projects (SCAMP) – Landscape Connections initiative, marking a major step forward in environmental restoration efforts across Dumfries and Galloway.

The first project awarded £8 million through The National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Landscape Connections initiative, the project covers a 210-mile stretch of precious coastline and coastal waters that will benefit from ten-year, large-scale funding. It will focus on habitat restoration, community engagement and nature-based solutions, encouraging the coastal and marine environment to thrive.

The Scottish Government has awarded Dumfries and Galloway Council £1.34 million funding towards the Annan Harbour Regeneration Project from the Vacant and Derelict Land Investment Programme.

Dumfries and Galloway Council is calling on residents, communities, businesses, and partners to have their say on the future of litter prevention across the region, as part of a wide-ranging consultation launching on 28 April.
