Service users at Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Stranraer Activity and Resource Centre (ARC) are celebrating after playing their part in a Guinness World Records achievement as part of the world’s largest online music quiz.

Dumfries Activity and Resource Centre (ARC) celebrated its 60th anniversary in style with a vibrant Blue and Gold Ball at the Cairndale Hotel on Saturday 2 May.

Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Social Work Services Committee today (26 May 2026) considered a wide-ranging programme of reports setting out progress, challenges and clear next steps across services supporting children, families and adults across the region.

Kinship care is built on connection, compassion and the belief that children thrive when surrounded by people who already know and love them. Across Dumfries and Galloway, our Social Work Team works every day to support carers through what can often be complex, emotional and life changing experiences.

Kinship Care Week is an opportunity to recognise the families across our region who open their homes and hearts to care for children when their parents are unable to do so. In Dumfries and Galloway, kinship care plays a vital role in helping children stay connected to the people, places and relationships that matter most.
