Festival goers can expect an action-packed programme of free activities designed to encourage young people to get active, try something new and most importantly, have fun.

This year’s “Let’s Get Sporty” zone will offer opportunities to get involved in football at the Soccerena and test your skills in a fun, inclusive environment. Those looking for something a little different can try their hand at curling lanes on synthetic ice or experience a range of ice sports, bringing a winter twist to the summer festival.

Thrill seekers will be spoiled for choice, with the return of adrenaline-fuelled attractions including a high ropes course, climbing wall, laser tag and an incredible 90m zip line, giving participants the chance to take on exciting challenges throughout the weekend.

Cycling fans can enjoy spectacular demonstrations from 3Sixty Mountain Bike Displays, showcasing impressive skills and stunts, while those looking for fun-filled experiences can bounce their way through the world’s biggest bouncy castle.

Chair of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Education Skills and Community Wellbeing Committee, Councillor Tracey Little said:

“It is fantastic to see such a wide variety of free daytime activities on offer for this year’s Youth Beatz Festival. The offer of activities encourages our young people to build their confidence and try new things, and being provided free of charge continues our council commitment to ensuring that events such as Youth Beatz are accessible to all.”

The hugely popular inflatable zone returns bigger than ever, with a variety of attractions including rodeo rides, slides and interactive inflatables, offering something for all ages to enjoy. Adding a creative twist to the programme, Think Circus will deliver engaging workshops and vibrant performances, giving young people the chance to learn new skills and take part in interactive experiences.

For younger festivalgoers, the Kids Tent will provide a dedicated space packed with activities including storytelling sessions, unicorn dance parties, arts and crafts, and child-friendly DJ sets, ensuring there is something magical for everyone to enjoy.

As well as the activity-based attractions, partners from across Dumfries and Galloway from both council services and third sector organisations will also be on site delivering engaging workshops, information and opportunities for young people and families to learn more about support and services available in their local communities through the Youth Information Marketplace and MOT Project.

Vice-Chair of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Education Skills and Community Wellbeing Committee, Councillor George Jamieson said:

“I would encourage all Festival attendees to take part in as many opportunities as they are able to over the weekend. Thank you to all of the businesses and organisations who are attending this year’s Festival, and we hope everyone has a great time taking part in these fantastic activities.”

All daytime activities are free and will be open to all on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June from 12–6pm.
