Running from 8 to 10 September at the Millennium Centre, George Street, the exhibition will showcase creative work by people who use the service.
Through art and craft, participants use colour, texture and imagination to express emotions, experiences and ideas while supporting mindfulness and wellbeing.
Visitors can enjoy the artwork, discover how creativity supports wellbeing and purchase selected pieces. Proceeds and donations will support the ARC Comforts Fund, helping to enhance activities and opportunities for people who use the service.
Chair of Dumfries and Galloway Council's Social Work Services Committee, Cllr. Andy McFarlane, said:
“Scottish Learning Disability Week celebrates the talents, achievements and contributions of people with learning disabilities across our communities. This exhibition brings that spirit to life through the confidence, individuality and creativity of its artists. I encourage everyone to come along and support this fantastic event.”
Vice Chair of the Social Work Services Committee, Cllr. John Young, said:
“Creative activities support wellbeing, build confidence and bring people together. The skill and imagination in this exhibition show the positive impact of Stranraer ARC’s work. I am delighted that local people can see that work for themselves.”
Public drop-in sessions will run from 11am to 3pm on Tuesday 8 September and from 10am to 12pm on Thursday 10 September. An art therapy session, open to everyone, will follow on Thursday from 1pm to 2.30pm.
