About the Community Resilience Team

The Resilience Team at Dumfries and Galloway Council aim to assist CRG’s by helping them to identify vulnerabilities specific to their community, provide insurance cover, information and training opportunities, and support to produce a Community Resilience Plan.

We will promote the key elements that are needed for communities, organisations, households and individuals to be resilient.

The three elements are:

  1. Awareness
  2. Assets
  3. Propensity to act

Awareness

Awareness by communities of the risks which may affect their community and what they can do to prepare for, respond to and recover from them if they happen.

Assets

Including resources, skills and networks which exist at individual, community and intra-community levels.

Propensity to act

A motivation and confidence that translates awareness and assets into action to help build resilience or respond to emergencies.
