Workforce Plan 2023 to 2028

This plan sets out the approach we're taking to make sure we have the right people, skills and ways of working to deliver services over the next few years.

The Workforce Plan sets out how we will support our workforce to deliver the Council Plan and Council Delivery Plan.

It explains the challenges we face, including changes to demand for services, recruitment and retention, and the need to deliver services differently.

It also sets out how we will develop and support our workforce over the next five years.

What this means

Over the lifetime of the plan we will:

  • support staff to develop new skills and adapt to change
  • improve digital skills and ways of working
  • develop career pathways and training opportunities
  • promote health, wellbeing and flexible working
  • attract and retain people in key roles

We will continue to review and update our workforce planning to make sure it supports delivery of the Council Plan.
