Dumfries and Galloway Health and Social Care Integration Scheme 2026

The Integration Scheme is the statutory agreement between us and NHS Dumfries and Galloway, setting out how integrated health and social care services are governed, planned and delivered.

The scheme is required under the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014. It establishes the Dumfries and Galloway Integration Joint Board and defines its role, powers and responsibilities.

The Integration Scheme describes:

  • the local model for integrating health and social care
  • the functions delegated to the Integration Joint Board
  • governance, finance and accountability arrangements
  • how national health and wellbeing outcomes are delivered locally

It provides the framework for joint working between us, NHS Dumfries and Galloway and the Integration Joint Board. It also supports partnership working with the third and independent sectors, carers and people with lived experience of care and support.

The scheme aims to improve outcomes for people, make best use of public resources and ensure clear accountability for decision-making.

Revised Integration Scheme

The current Integration Scheme has been reviewed, consulted on and approved by Scottish Ministers. It replaces previous versions and applies from the date of ministerial approval.
