Communications Strategy 2025–2028

Our strategy on how we communicate as a council, externally and internally.

Our vision:

“To be a trusted voice for Dumfries and Galloway, delivering clear and people-first communication that builds public confidence and reflects the needs of our communities.”

Effective communication sits at the heart of how Dumfries and Galloway Council connects with its residents, businesses, partners and colleagues.

It helps people understand what we do, how to access services and how they can get involved in shaping decisions that affect them. This strategy sets out how we will deliver clear, engaging and accessible communication that strengthens trust, builds relationships and supports the ambitions of our Council Plan 2023–2028.

Dumfries and Galloway Council’s communications play a key role in supporting our shared ambition – as set out in the Council Plan – to make the region the natural place to live, work, visit, learn and invest.

By promoting openness, celebrating local successes and championing the work of services and partners, our communications help to protect and enhance our council’s reputation – both among our communities and across Scotland.

This is essential to maintaining trust, attracting talent, encouraging civic participation and building confidence in the services we deliver.
