Overview

This engagement is now closed.

Work on preparing the next Local Development Plan (LDP3) for Dumfries and Galloway has started. The first stage of the new plan is the production of an evidence report. To help inform the report, the Development Planning Team will be asking people what they think at a series of events in towns and villages during May and June. Locations for these engagement sessions are based on the map inset in the current Local Development Plan - LDP2. We want to know people's views on where they live and the whole region.

We are also keen to understand what people think about play provision in their local community including the quality, quantity and how easy it is to access. We will also be providing information on the next Local Development Plan and the issues that are considered in its preparation.

The engagement is also taking the form of a roadshow.

Our engagement is based on the Place Standard Tool, which is a way of assessing places. Whether the place is well-established, undergoing change, or is still being planned, the tool can help you. The following video link to the Public Health Scotland YouTube page provides a snapshot of how the Place Standard Tool works: How good is your place? The Place Standard tool (youtube.com).

Place can mean many things to people, but it's perhaps most easily understood as the physical environment around us, the people within that environment (the social environment) and the interaction of the two, the physical place and people.

Watch this animation below to find out how place affects our lives and how place-based approaches can lead to better outcomes for people and the environment. Closed caption subtitles and a transcript to aid accessibility can be found via the video settings:
