Apply for a child performance licence

A child taking part in a performance event may need a child performance licence if they are at school.

The licence is needed so we can make sure the child's learning and wellbeing are protected during the production or activity.

The person in charge of the performance event must apply for a licence if the child is under school leaving age and taking part in:

  • films, plays, concerts or other public performances that the audience pays to see, or that take place on licensed premises
  • any sporting events or modelling assignments where the child is paid

How to apply

You must apply at least 21 days before the event or you may not get the licence when it's needed. The licence will only cover the one production or activity.

Complete the performance licence application form and send it to the address on the form, with the other documents on the checklist.
