Register for business rates

Non-domestic rates, also known as business rates, are a tax on non-domestic properties that help pay for local council services.

Businesses, charities and public sector organisations have to pay business rates. You pay them if you're the owner, tenant or occupier of a non-domestic property. You might also need to pay them if you use part of a house for business purposes. For example, if you work from home or let out a room.

How to register for business rates

If you start a new business or move into new business premises you must tell us so we can register you for business rates. We'll need to know your name, business or organisation name, address and when you moved in. The easiest way to register is to send us a business rates enquiry.
