Age-related allowance
You are expected to meet the general living costs of a child you adopt, just like any parent. However, you will receive an age-related allowance until the adoption is granted.

| 16 to 18 years | £268.41 |
| 18 to 21 years | £268.41 (with the deduction of Universal Credit where appropriate) |
Adoption allowance
You may be eligible for an adoption allowance, which depends on the identified needs of the child.
Adoption allowance is £150 per week for up to 2 years.
We will pay towards the cost of introductions including accommodation and mileage if required.
