Overview

Cove Footbridge has been closed to public access as a result of damage caused by winter storms. Dumfries and Galloway Council wishes to remove the current footbridge as it is damaged beyond repair and is a hazard to the public and the environment if left standing.

Why we are engaging

We need feedback on the options identified within a feasibility study of the potential replacement of the current footbridge or provision of an alternative solution.

Your input is crucial in helping us understand the community's desires for the new footbridge – preferred locations, thoughts on alternative options proposed and other considerations – that will inform the design process.

What we will do

We will

  • ask citizens to provide their feedback through an online questionnaire (hard copies are available at Kirkpatrick-Fleming Village Hall)
  • invite local residents and businesses to meet and discuss, capturing the views from the discussions

What to do now

Complete the survey

You can attend a public engagement session at Kirkpatrick-Fleming Village Hall on Wednesday 28 May 2025 from 3pm to 7pm.

This survey will close at 5pm on Wednesday 11 June 2025.

Your feedback is really important to us. Your responses will inform the next stage of the feasibility study.
