Funding schemes to help the Nithsdale Area Committee meet their priorities.

These are the schemes for the Nithsdale Area Committee.

Nithsdale Area Committee

At its meeting on 13 May 2026, Nithsdale Area Committee agreed its funding priorities and approved the launch of the following grant schemes to support local communities across Nithsdale.

Nithsdale Sports Grants

This fund is now open to applications

Do you love sports and live in Nithsdale? You may be able to get some money to help you with your training or equipment.

How it works

Nithsdale Sports Grants is giving out money to:

  • Athletes (people who play sports) – up to £250
  • Sports clubs – up to £600

This money is for people who don’t already get help from big sports organisations. It’s meant to help them reach goals in their sport.

Fund total

A total budget of £8,000 was available to give out.

The final chance to apply is:

  • round 2: apply by 29 October 2026 (before midday)

Community planting fund

This fund is now open to applications

This is a small grant to help local groups plant flowers and take care of public spaces in Nithsdale. This includes things like flower beds and hanging baskets.

Groups can get up to £1000 but only one application per community can be submitted.

The money is given out to the first groups who apply, so it’s a good idea to apply quickly.

How to apply

Defibrillator maintenance fund

This fund is now open to applications

This is a small grant to help local groups take care of defibrillators in their communities across Nithsdale. A defibrillator is a machine that can help save someone’s life if their heart stops.

Groups can get up to £800 to help with maintenance costs.

The money is given out to the first groups who apply, so it’s best to apply early.

How to apply

Tackling Poverty and Inequalities Fund

This fund is now open to applications

Groups and organisations can apply for up to £10,000 to support work in these areas:

  • digital connectivity
  • food insecurity
  • fuel poverty
  • warm hubs
  • advice and support services (financial management/lifestyle)

You need to fill in the application form:

  • deadline to apply: 13 July 2026 at midday
  • decisions made by: September 2026

We cannot pay for anything that has already been bought or started before we make a decision.

Utility Support Fund

The fund is now closed for 2026 to 2027

A small grant is available to help cover energy bills for:

  • community centres
  • town halls
  • village halls

What you can get

You can apply for up to £2,000 to help pay for your 2026 utility bills (like gas and electricity). The grant you can apply for should be based on 50% of your actual 2025 utility bills.

How it works

There are two chances to apply:

  • round 1: apply by 30 June 2026 (before midday)
  • round 2 (if funds remain): apply by 30 September 2026 (before midday)
  • grants are given on a first-come, first-served basis
  • apply as soon as you can to avoid missing out

We will assess all applications after the deadline. Each application will be checked to make sure it meets the rules and the key criteria. A final decision will be made by the Lead Officer, who will consult with local Ward Members. 

Remembrance Hospitality Fund

This fund is now open to applications

This is a small grant to help pay for food and drinks after remembrance parades in November across Nithsdale. You can get up to £300.

The money is given out to the first people who apply, so it’s best to apply early.

 

Community Food Provider Training and Skills Fund 

This fund is now open to applications

This small grants scheme supports training and skills for staff and volunteers who run community food services in Nithsdale.

You can apply for up to £1000 to help pay for training, such as food hygiene, governance, or health and safety.

Funding is limited and given on a first come, first served basis. We recommend applying as early as possible.
