Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal

This project brings together five cross-border local authorities to promote economic growth and competitiveness of the area that straddles the Scotland-England border.

A sustainable and inclusive future for the Borderlands

Borderlands - a great place to live, work and visit

We have a shared ambition for the region to reach its potential for everyone, delivering green growth and attracting new businesses and investment.

We will improve our connectivity, deliver skills and innovation, and improve our places to support their longer-term resilience.

We will attract new residents and welcome more visitors to enjoy the beautiful natural environment of our vibrant, inclusive region.

In Dumfries and Galloway there are five towns which have been designated for support through the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal.

Stranraer

Kirkconnell and Kelloholm

Gretna and Springfield

Wigtown

Whithorn

Each of the towns now have Place Plans which have been endorsed by Dumfries and Galloway Council and approved by Borderlands.  Click on the towns to view the Place Plan.

The next step in the Place Programme process is the development of the Borderlands Town Investment Plans. The aim of the Investment Plans for each area is to identify those projects which are eligible for and have been prioritised by the towns/areas for investment through the Borderlands Place Programme. As part of the process, there will be a clear requirement for communities to justify their inclusion in any Investment Plan.
