Apply for a caravan site licence

You must have a have a licence to use any site as a caravan site.

Caravan site licences are issued with conditions attached to cover things like:

  • number of caravans allowed on site
  • types of caravans allowed on site
  • facilities provision and maintenance
  • times and days when caravans can be on the site and occupied
  • where the caravans can be located on the site
  • safety requirements

You may also need planning permission to use the site as a caravan site. This must be applied for separately.

How to apply

Licences will not be issued to applicants who have had a site licence revoked in the previous 3 years. Send your completed application form to:

The applicant must be entitled to use the land as a caravan site and type of site they are applying for (such as holiday, residential or mixed use).

Non-residential holiday park licence

There is no charge for this licence.

 

Residential or mixed-use park licence

The application fee for a new licence is £695.10. You must pay this we will process your application. This licence lasts for 5 years.

Renew or update your licence

Contact us if you want to:

  • renew your licence (costs £560.70)
  • change ownership
  • tell us about any changes you want to make to the site that may affect your licence

After you apply

After we've received your application and any payment required we will:

  • confirm receipt of your application, normally within 5 working days
  • do any necessary checks: this may include a site visit
  • confirm if the application form is complete, and that we have all the required supporting information
  • process your application within 2 months and write to let you know if your licence has been approved

You can appeal our decision if your application is not approved. You must do this within 21 days of the date on the decision notice.
